The Story Behind Cacapon Mountain Brewing

The building carries real history. The taproom occupies the former Interwoven Mills, a hosiery operation that ran here from the late 1800s and tied Berkeley Springs into the industrial economy of nearby Martinsburg, WV and Hagerstown, MD. The mill weathered the 1929 crash, and during World War II its looms turned out socks for military personnel. In 1962 the company was purchased and production moved south to North Carolina — leaving behind the sturdy building that gives the taproom its character today.

Named for the mountain that overlooks the region, Cacapon Mountain Brewing Co. was built to bring high-quality craft beer and fresh, honest food to Morgan County. The founders transformed that historic mill on Williams Street into a warm, open taproom and kitchen — preserving a piece of Berkeley Springs history and giving it new life as a community hub.

From the tap list to every plate out of the kitchen, the focus stays simple: good ingredients, fresh food, and fine beer worth making the trip for. Today the taproom is a regular stop on the regional craft circuit — and, more importantly, a genuine local hangout.
